The Project

Tally Ho! A Place to Meet was an intergenerational heritage project exploring the history of this local landmark through personal stories, archival research, community art, performance and film. With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Finchley Society and local volunteers of all ages, we’ve used the opportunity presented by artsdepot’s tenth birthday to learn more about the site we call home.

We’ve highlighted three periods: the early 1800’s, when it is believed that the Tally Ho Coach company would stop here on its way from London to Birmingham; 1937-1987 – the Gaumont Cinema and Tally Ho corner today.
